WOOFFERTON finished their season on a high by thrashing table toppers Bromyard that all but guarantees them a top-four finish in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division 1.

Hat-trick hero Dan Gower was on target again, taking his goal-total to an impressive 36 from 16 appearances this season.

Kieran Dovey was also on hand to add to the score line.

Gower opened the scoring with a neat right footed shot low to the keepers left after Dean Harding's strike was parried in to the strikers path.

Bromyard responded quickly with Dave Cooper unable to stop a low drive from the pacey left winger from hitting the back of the net.

The home side regained the lead with arguably the best goal of the game.

Gower was on hand again, finishing off some neat build up play with a left footed effort to take Woofferton into the break ahead.

Bromyard came at Woofferton strongly at the start of the second half and the hosts had to rely on some last ditch defending from man-of-the-match Rob Smith to stay ahead.

Woofferton manager Steve Chadd brought on AFC Ludlow trio Keanu Cooper, Kieran Dovey and Marian Jusko, who were all available due to Ludlow’s free weekend

It didn’t take long for Dovey to get off the mark, placing a low drive into the back of the net after good inter-play between himself and Simon Bradley.

Gower capped off a fine performance with his ninth hat-trick of the season; cutting inside from the right, before running past two defenders and striking a sweet shot high to the keepers left to wrap up the win.

''Bromyard are the toughest team in the league and the lads deserve credit for their effort, there were some excellent performances” said Woofferton player/secretary Dave Thomas.

Having completed their league season, The Blues are without a fixture this weekend, but are set to host Bromyard in the semi-final of the HFA Jock Handley Cup on March 28.
