TENBURY United put their league form to one side to produce an outstanding performance and send league leaders Ewyas Harold crashing out of the HFA Charity Bowl.

The Palmers Meadow side thrashed their Herefordshire opponents 5-0 to ensure they meet Westfields Reserves in the final.

“It was a great team performance and every player played their part," said Tenbury joint-managerAaron Morris., who opened the scoring with a first half free-kick to give his side a slender 1-0 advantage at the break.

"We went in ahead, but our message to the players was to make sure we didn’t make any mistakes," said Morris.

"We knew the second goal would be massive for whichever team got it.”

United goalkeeper Robbie Farrar made an excellent save early in the second half to keep the lead intact, before Ryan Morris doubled his side's advantage with a fantastic solo effort.

Morris picked the ball up in his own half before beating four players on his way to sending the ball into the back of the net.

United quickly added two more goals through a second from Morris, and one from Ian Patterson to kill the game off.

And despite seeing substitute John Bradley sent off, they were still able to add a fifth thanks to Macauley Stone.

Morris admitted that his sides thumping win was a bit of a shock, but said even the opposition admitted the better side had won

“It’s the first time all season that we’ve really been able to field our strongest squad,"said Morris.

“After the game the Ewyas Harold players complemented us on our play, they couldn’t see why we are where we are in the league.”

In the league, second-from-bottom Tenbury face Lads Club Reserves this weekend knowing a win would lift them above their opponents in the table.

“We’ve got to concentrate on trying to get as many points as we can on the board," said Morris.

"We don’t know how many teams will be relegated so we’ve just got to get as high as we can in the league.”
