CLEOBURY Mortimer saw their 100 per cent record in Midlands 4 West (North) come to an end with a 12-3 defeat to Cannock.

But despite recording fifteen straight wins in the league, and being the only side with an undefeated record going into the game, captain Will Bache said his players should not be worried.

“It was disappointing, but it was just one of those days," said Bache.

"Cannock are a good side, and perhaps they wanted it more than us.”

“The players are down, but I’ve told them not to worry, it was a bad day at the office. What matters now is how we bounce back.”

Cleobury, who saw the gap between themselves and second placed Barton cut to 10 points, are without a game on the weekend.

They then travel to Rugby Lions in the final of the Midlands Junior Vase. “We’ve achieved my goal of getting to the final of the Vase” admitted Bache “the boys have done themselves proud so far, hopefully they’ll bounce back with a win.”

In Midlands 3 West (North) Clee Hill, without injured captain Matt Bowen, lost out to Eccleshall 12-34 in a game that saw Dan Matthews kick conversions following tries by Daniel Romeo and George Evans for the hosts. Clee Hill travel to sixth placed Edwardians on the weekend looking to avenge a 10-7 defeat earlier in the season.

Bishop's Castle lost their Midlands 4 West (North) match against Market Drayton 3-0.

Castle who remain sixth in the table face a trip to fourth placed Rugeley this Saturday.

Church Stretton and Tenbury, both without a league game last weekend, went head-to-head in a friendly match with Stretton running out 19-12 winners against their higher-graded opponents.

Tenbury are back in league action this weekend when they continue their Midlands 4 West (North) relegation survival-fight.

They entertain Yardley & District in a game which Tenbury must win in order to remain in touch with their fellow relegation candidates.

Church Stretton, who saw Aldridge take over at the top of the Midlands 5 West (North), are once again without a game.

They next play on March 14 when they host Whitchurch 3rd in a friendly game.
