LUDLOW will be looking to cause a cup upset when they travel to Kent/Sussex Regional League 1 high-flyers Crawley in the quarter finals of the England Vase this Sunday.

The south Shropshire side have already recorded wins this season over Kettering and Southport to reach this stage of the competition for the first time in their history.

"This is our strongest side ever and we have made good progress," said Ludlow president Roger Furniss.

"The whole team are totally committed to further progress."

Goal scoring star James Pratt, who has scored 10 goals in Ludlow’s last four matches, will be hoping to continue his rich vein of form as he bids to help his side continue their journey towards a possible final at Lee Valley in London. Ludlow will travel to Crawley immediately following their league game against Streetly on Saturday, a game they go into on the back of a fine 7-2 win over Redditch last weekend.

Pratt recorded a goal haul of four goals that were added to by a brace from Andrew Richards and a penalty corner from Graham Hutchinson.

Ludlow 2nd were guilty of a string of missed opportunities as they fell to a 3-0 friendly defeat against West Bromwich whilst the 3rd XI suffered a 1-7 defeat at home to Aldridge & Walsall.

It’s a busy weekend for Ludlow Hockey Club with no fewer than eight fixtures across the weekend including under-10, under-12 fixtures at Lilleshall National Sports Centre on Sunday from 9.30am to noon.

An under-13 Strutt and Parker Central Venue League match will also take place at Much Wenlock at 9.30am this Saturday.
