TENBURY RFC captain Will Gough feels his team still have what it takes to avoid relegation from Midlands 4 West (North) despite a 10-0 defeat at the hands of Telford Hornets on the weekend.

It was a series of costly errors and a failure to convert ball possession and territory that cost the visitors the points in a game which Gough admitted his side never got into.

"We just couldn’t compete, we had a lot of ball, a lot of possession, but we just couldn’t convert it into points," he said.

“We had high hopes after a good win in our previous game, but we just fell short.

"We failed to execute our game plan, we just weren’t at the races."

Despite the loss, Gough says his team are not panicking and has high hopes of league survival.

"We know we have the quality in us to avoid relegation, we’ve got the better run in of the three sides at the bottom and we’ve got the belief in the camp that we can pick up another two or three wins," said Gough.

With no league game scheduled for the weekend ,Tenbury are set to face Church Stretton in a friendly, before resuming their league campaign with a home game against Yardley & District on March 7.
