A YOUNG Ludlow boxer is through to the finals of the West Midlands finals after two wins in as many days.

Chadd Woodfield from Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club had successive wins last Saturday and Sunday meaning he is through to final of West Midlands Championship in Birmingham tomorrow (Friday).

"He dominated his first fight," said Colin Woodfield from Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club who is also Chadd's father.

"He took his game plan into the ring and stuck with it. It was a unanimous victory which was the right result.

"The second fight he won on a majority split but I think it should have been unanimous too.

"He's doing well. He's certainly looking a lot stronger and fitter now."

Tomorrow's bout sees Woodfield come up against a youngster from Wellington, Shropshire.

Such is the interest in the fight that a minibus has been organised from Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club to the fight in Birmingham.

Woodfield Senior says the Ludlow club is doing well with many attending regular training sessions at the club’s training centre at Wheeler

Road, which opened last September.

The club’s original building was demolished over safety concerns several years ago.

Volunteers assisted with the fitting of the new community building.

Meanwhile, on March 6 Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club is hosting a night of boxing at Ludlow Racecourse featuring some of the Midlands' finest amateur boxers.

Tickets for a three-course meal plus the boxing entertainment (from 6.30pm) cost £35 while entry just for the boxing (8.30pm) is £12.
