AFC Ludlow have boosted their ranks by signing Jamie Edwards from Bartestree.

The midfielder, who is head of community development at Shrewsbury Town, is set to play for Dave Cooper's side in a friendly against Orleton Colts this evening.

Cooper played with Edwards in the successful Leominster Town team that won the Herefordshire Football League alongside Kenny Styles and Sam Bowen.

Edwards has played three or four games for Bartestree this season and Cooper has put in a seven day notice and handed over paperwork to ensure he can swap clubs.

“Jamie came and watched our game the other week and we got chatting after the game," said Cooper.

"He’s just moved back to the area and said he’d be interested in playing for us.

“It’s a massive bonus for us, we’ve got a young team and to have someone with his experience in the set up will be a great advantage for us.

“I’m sure Jamie will be a useful addition both on and off the pitch. His knowledge and advice will be very useful.

“I’d never poach a player from another club, but I’m always grateful for any player who wants to come and improve our side.

"Jamie certainly ticks that box."

AFC Ludlow are also in action this Saturday when they travel to Stone Old Alleynians in West Midlands (Regional) League Division 1.

Luke Hicks is suspended for the game.
