IT was back to business for Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club who enjoyed seeing an eight-year-high entry for their recent winter Men's Double Roll Up competition

A heavy frost greeted the players throughout the weekend, meaning that competitors had to employ a tactical approach to the competition.

And with the bumper field all trying to overcome the freezing conditions, it was 'Mr Consistent' Rob Winnall who shrugged off the cold weather to storm to the top of the leader board early on with 37 points.

Roger Evans continued his fine form with 38 points to lead almost all of the Saturday while Andy Young was the only player to make a move the following day.

He also shot 38 points, and with a superior back count, finished ahead of Evans.

The player of the weekend though was Bryan Colley who came off the course having made a mockery of the very tough conditions to shoot 41 points.

Club professional Sam Pain said: "Bryan shot a superb score out there with the greens so firm.

"he is one of those players who, if he wanted to could easily be a single figure handicap golfer.

"He has massive potential for a big year at Cleobury'.

Final standings: 1st - Bryan Colley - 41 points, 2nd - Andy Young - 38 points, 3rd - Roger Evans - 38 points, 4th Rob Winnall - 37 points

Meanwhile, as part of a national campaign to get more people playing golf, Cleobury are offering five, one hour group lessons for just £25 (£5 per session).

The tuition will be lead by Sam Pain, with the first session being held on Saturday, February 21, with four more planned over the course of February and March.
