TENBURY Town extended their winning run to twelve games with a fine 4-2 win over second placed Kingstone Harriers in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division 2.

Tenbury got off to a flying start when Alex Bright opened the scoring inside four minutes, heading home Ashley Botwood’s corner.

They then doubled their advantage when Adam Everall rounded the keeper before slotting the ball home.

The two-goal advantage lasted less than a minute however, with the visitors scoring immediately following the restart .

Everall grabbed his second goal of the game 15 minutes when he latched onto the end of a Botwood corner to restore the home side’s two-goal advantage.

Tenbury then conceded a soft goal after the break when the ball rolled under James Powell’s foot and into the back of the net.

But they wrapped up the win with five minutes to go thanks to a second goal from Alex Bright.

In the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division ,Tenbury United joint-manager Aaron Morris said he was not too disappointed with his side’s 2-1 defeat against league leaders Wellington Reserves.

“Wellington are top of the league for a reason having only lost once this season," said Morris.

Heavy wind played its part as Wellington took the lead early on before doubling their advantage during six minutes of added time at the end of the first period.

Morris, who came on fas a substitute, managed to pull a goal back with ten minutes to go.

But it proved nothing more than a consolation goal.

“We thought we might have been able to get a point, but I don’t want to be too down with the defeat,” said Morris.

United now go into a trio of cup semi-finals over the coming three weeks, starting with Pegasus Reserves in the Clubsport Cup this weekend. Last four encounters with Ewyas Harold and Fownhope then follow.

“We need another one or two wins in the league to be safe, but it would be great to get to as many Cup finals as we can so that we can finish the season on a high” said Morris.
