CRAIG Morris grabbed four goals as Newcastle bounced back in style to thrash Talgarth Reserves 7-0 and record their biggest win in Mid Wales League (South) this season.

Leading goalscorer Morris, who earned the man-of-the-match plaudits, scored his first two goals early on, with Sam Morgan adding a fine third from long range, all inside the opening 15 minutes.

“It was pretty much one way traffic for the whole 90 minutes,” said Newcastle manager John Goodridge.

“We’ve been playing well of late, but not getting the result we perhaps deserved so it was great to be so dominant and get the win as well.”

Jimmy Thomas had a goal ruled out for offside as Newcastle continued to press, with the Talgarth goalkeeper making a number of fine saves to keep the score respectable.

Morris completed his hat trick before the break to give his side a healthy 4-0 half time lead.

Substitute Sam Windsor then added a fifth before Morris then headed in his fourth goal.

Ryan Bufton grabbed his side’s seventh to cap an excellent personal performance and complete the comprehensive victory.

Newcastle went into the game having lost 3-2 to Carno Reserves, but this win takes them to ninth place in the league table.

This Saturday, Goodridge's men are home to Llanidloes Town Reserves.
