BISHOPS Castle captain Jack Holloway knows his team have an ideal chance of challenging for promotion from Midlands 4 West (North) this Saturday when they travel to fellow high-fliers Barton-under-Needwood.

Both sides have 33 points in a congested league and are three adrift of second place Cannock.

Castle go into the game on the back of a 22-3 home win against bottom club Tenbury.

"Barton will be a big challenge, but we did beat them earlier in the season," said Holloway.

"We are just trying to push on and see where it takes us."

Andrew Dale grabbed three tries for Castle against Tenbury, with Henry Wilson adding two conversions and a penalty.

"We were massively disappointed to lose our last game, so were delighted to go into half-time with a commanding lead," said Holloway.

"We didn't play as well as we would have wanted in the second half, but we got the win."

Tenbury captain Will Gough was not too disheartened following the loss that keeps them rooted at the bottom of the division.

"The three tries were pushover ones from scrums, which in a way was disappointing," said Gough.

"It is something we need to learn from, but we did get get back into the game in the second half and it was a good performance.

"Lawson Thomas and Greg Powell both played well and John Males and Craig Parkes were outstanding."

Cleobury Mortimer remain 13 points clear at the top after they were awarded a home win against Market Drayton due to the away side failing to raise a side.

Clee Hill captain Matt Bowen conceded his team were outplayed by Harborne in a 64-7 hammering in Midlands 3 West (North).

Robert Fletcher grabbed Clee's solitary try, which Steve Adams converted.

"We played well to be fair, it was just that they outsmarted us and were well organised," said Bowen.

"We had some players out, including Craig Breakwell and Josh Hughes, which also didn't help.

"But in the last two weeks we have played the teams who are first and second so we were expecting hard games.

"We are playing a lot of teams we have never played before in this league so it was always going to be a big experience.

"But everyone is still enjoying it and everyone is sticking together."

This Saturday, Clee Hill travel to second-bottom Uttoxeter.

Church Stretton will be looking to maintain their healthy lead in Midlands 5 West (North) when they resume their league programme at home to St Leonards this Saturday.

The Samurai go into the game on the back of a 29-3 friendly win against Bridgnorth 3rd.

Will Bryant grabbed two of the five tries, with Tom Chard, Dom Wilding and Dan Henderson adding the others.
