TENBURY Town will be hoping that lightning does not strike twice after reaching the HFA Junior Cup final for the second successive season.

Bob Sumner's side overcame Sinkums 3-2 after extra-time to reach the final where they will face Ledbury Town Reserves.

Town lost last season's final 2-1 to Orleton Colts at Westfields' allpay.park ground, but this year's showpiece is set to be played at Palmers Meadow.

"We are delighted to reach the HFA Junior Cup final again this year after getting there last year," said Sumner.

"We want to go one better and win it this time.

"All the players are playing out of their skin this season and I'm thrilled with results we are getting.

"Our goal was to win something and this year we have a couple of opportunities."

Town reached the final of the Worcestershire Minor Cup after overcoming rivals Tenbury United last month.

Tom Pitt was their hero against Sinkums when his extra-time strike proved decisive.

Town stormed into a 2-0 lead through Alex Bright and Chris Patton before Sinkums had a player sent off.

But that spurred the Hereford side on and they levelled the match to take the tie into extra-time.

Man-of-the-match Pitt won the match when raced onto a long ball to loft a delicate lob over the advancing goalkeeper.

Town are again in cup action this Saturday when they entertain Tupsley in the quarter-finals of the HFA Burghill Cup.

Tenbury United are also celebrating after they thrashed Pegasus Reserves 5-0 to reach the last four of the HFL Senior Cup.

Dale Withers and Ryan Morris both scored twice, with the other goal coming from Lee Millichip.

United welcomed back influential captain Mike Foster following injury, but were without Aaron Morris, Ashley Giles, Ian Patterson and George Pearson.

Joint-manager Nick Stocker said he was delighted with the win following the derby defeat against Tenbury Town.

"I was really impressed with the attitude of the lads," said Stocker.

"Our big players had an off day against Tenbury Town, but they were back to their best.

"Dale, Lee, Mike and Ryan were outstanding."

United will be hoping to reach another semi-final when they face Wellington Colts in the HFL Clubsport Cup this Saturday.
