AFC Ludlow boss Dave Cooper is not getting carried away despite seeing his team complete the double over West Midlands Division One pacesetters Bromyard Town.

The Showtime Stadium side are joint second in the table and are now just two points behind Bromyard.

But after seeing his team lose to strugglers Wyrley and Team Dudley this season, Cooper knows he can take nothing for granted.

“Those results still haunt me,” said Cooper.

“Every team can beat anyone in this league and whoever is the most consistent will win the league.

“As long as we are up there and challenging, then I will be happy.

“But we have got Bromyard out of the way and have beaten them twice.

“It proves it was not a fluke when we beat them first time around.

“The changing room was buzzing after the game.”

Around 100 people watched the game at the Showtime Stadium that was played on a perfect pitch.

Aston Gunter opened the scoring for Bromyard after 17 minutes before former Town player Ashley Morris equalised for AFC Ludlow.

Bromyard did have the ball in the net for a second time, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

The key moment of the game arrived shortly before half-time when Keanu Cooper put Dave Cooper’s boys in control.

Marian Jusko released Dale Hodge, who showed great feet to skip past two defenders to pick out Cooper who made no mistake to tap the ball home.

Jusko should have scored himself shortly into the second half, but the ball got stuck under his feet and he could not generate enough power to force it past Bromyard’s goalkeeper.

But Jusko was celebrating soon after when his free-kick picked out Dale Hodge who out-muscled his marker to clinically shoot home.

Bromyard did pull a goal back with 20 minutes to go, but Ludlow held on for the win and could even have added a fourth, but Cooper’s effort hit a post.

AFC Ludlow goalkeeper Ian Havard also performed well between the posts, including pulling off a fantastic reaction save near the end of the game.

Cooper’s team do not have a game this weekend due to their scheduled opponents Shenstone Pathfinders being in cup action.

AFC Ludlow’s next match is away to Herefordshire outfit Bartestree on Saturday, November 29.

Only goals scored separate AFC Ludlow from Worcester Raiders in second place in the table.
