TENBURY United joint-manager Nick Stocker was left disheartened after his side were thrashed 4-1 by Fownhope in the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.

Makeshift goalkeeper Robbie Farrar was the team’s star man, despite having to pick the ball out of the net four times.

The match was the only one that took place in the division last Saturday due to waterlogged pitches, therefore United missed an ideal opportunity to climb up the table.

“We’re massively disappointed,” said Stocker.

“I felt we were really, really poor.

“I think our keeper tried his best to keep us in the game, particularly in the first half, and perhaps if we’d scored earlier then things could have been different, but there’s not a lot of positives we can take from that performance.”

United have a huge derby game against rivals Tenbury Town on November 29, in the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Minor Cup and Stocker thought that maybe some of his players’ minds were on that.

“I just couldn’t get the boys going,” he said.

Fownhope opened the scoring in the 26th minute via a spectacular strike from Sam Lewis, before doubling their lead shortly after the break through George Leyshon-James.

The home side made it 3-0 when Ryan Rowlett side-footed home, before Macauley Stone added a late consolation for Tenbury.

But Fownhope still had time to score a fourth goal when Rowlett scored a fine individual goal.

Sean Gough hit an incredible seven goals as Church Stretton thrashed bottom club Weston Rhyn 12-0 in Mercian League Premier Division.

The astonishing match also saw Sam Crumpton score direct from a corner, with Matthew Newton (two), Ryan Cooke and Jack Davis also getting on the scoresheet.

Stretton manager Paul Smith said Weston Rhyn only had one chance all game and his team could have scored 20 goals.

“We were very attack-minded and everyone wanted to score at the end,” said Smith.

“It was 6-0 at half-time and there was no long-ball.

“It was a nice confidence boost and we’ll now try and remain unbeaten for the rest of the year, which will be a nice challenge for the team.”

Clee Hill also had their scoring boots on as they hit Wrockwardine Wood Juniors 5-0 in Division One.

Ollie Smith and Adam Warren scored two goals apiece, with the other goal coming from Liam Whitbread.

“We were 4-0 up at half-time, so it was game over by that stage,” said Clee Hill manager Wayne Whitbread.

“It was also nice to keep a clean-sheet for the first time this season.”

Bishops Castle will be hoping that Wrockwardine Wood Juniors will once again be in generous mood when they play them this Saturday.

Alex Jones’ team go into the game on the back of a 3-2 win against Oakengates Rangers.
