TENBURY' United's youngsters had double cause for celebration after good news on and off the pitch.

The Under 17 side defeated local rivals Bromyard 6-2, rounding off a week which saw the club secure a new sponsors.

Tenbury-based electrical company G.E Brights and SKY television are the club's latest supporters with the team shirts now sporting the company names.

On the pitch, two goals from Declan Bright and Dominic Palethorpe, along with one each from Man of the Match Andre Pereira and Leandro Gomes, helped Tenbury to a convincing win.

The game didn't start ideally for the Worcestershire side though when they fell a goal behind early on.

But five minutes later they were level.

"I was happy with the teams performance," said Mark Boucker, one of Tenbury's three managers.

"We were a bit sloppy from the start which is something we need to work on, but I'm happy with the teams' fight and determination to win games.

"Declan and Andre were unplayable today; Aaron Boucker and Dominic Palethorpe were carrying knocks but caused the away defence countless problems and the defence, after the first goal, was solid from our keeper to the defensive midfielders they all fought for each other."

The pick of the goals was Tenbury's sixth when Pereira beat two players before finding Palethorpe who took a touch and fired past the goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Tenbury Athletic came from 2-0 down to rescue a point against Golden Lion in the Herefordshire Sunday League Northern Division.

Toby Gittens started the comeback with a spot kick after Matt Clifford was brought down.

But in a dramatic end to the game, Tenbury goalkeeper George Hart, who had come up for a corner, was fouled for another penalty.

Five minutes passed as Golden Lion players disagreed with the referee over the decision. When the situation had died down, Gittens was again spot-on with the penalty.

In the Shrewsbury & District Sunday League Division One, Norbury ran out 3-2 winners over The Peacock.

Harry Curtis-Evans, Mark Griffiths (penalty) scored early goals the home side.

With the score at 2-2, Griffiths hit the bar with a long-range effort but it was Jack Mellor who restored the advantage when his shot took a kind deflection to loop over the goalkeeper and into the net.
