BROTHERS Steve and Phil Lau are celebrating after winning the 2014 doubles knockout cup at Cleobury Golf Club.

The duo played some stunning golf to seal the win against Pauyl and Dan Liggins.

This is the second time they have won the tournament after first winning it in 2010.

"It was a tough match, but we it was a great team effort and we are very proud to win this competition," said Phil Lau.

Meanwhile, Steve Johnson won the doubles doll up stableford.

The event allows competitors to play on either day of the weekend, with the overall score winning.

Ian Gough recorded the lowest gross on the day on his way to 38 points, but his playing partner Yoshi Oyama just pipped him with 39 points to take the lead into Sunday.

The good scores continued on Sunday, with 13-year-old Jack Severn once again showing his talent and potential with 38 points to see his handicap tumble to 5.6

Jack is a product of Cleobury's youth system and there are high hopes for him.

However, the day and tournament was won by Johnson, who shot 40 points to take home some prizes from the club.

Johnson admitted that he has had a quiet season on the golf course and knew he had to up his game.

"It is difficult for me to play golf during the week due to work commitments, but I have now started going to my local driving range three days a week and it's paying off," said Johnson.

"My game feels great and it goes to show practicing really does help."
