GOLF ace Ollie Farr says he is enjoying his maiden season on the European Tour and is fully focussed in ensuring he gets a card for next year.

Farr, who grew up in Newnham Bridge, has travelled the world in his first year as a professional and secured a two-shot victory at the Turkish Airlines Challenge in May.

The former Ludlow Golf champion also finished third in in the D+D Real Slovakia Challenge in July and last month was tied fourth at the Open Blue Green Cotes d'Armor Bretagne in France.

But his form has dipped recently, which saw him miss the cut at the Rolex Trophy event in Switzerland and the Kazakhstan Open.

"My form has been a bit hit and miss, but I'm playing ok," said Farr.

"When you come to the end of the season, everyone picks up their game, but I am in the position I want to be in.

"But my game is not far from the middle of the season when I was playing my best golf, so I am sure I will be fine.

"There are five events left, with the last one being in Dubai in the first week of November.

"I will be away for the whole month and will be in China for two weeks before playing in Oman and then Dubai.

"I don't mind the travelling, but it is the first time I will experience of travelling in professional golf.

"But it is not very often you get the chance to play in China and Dubai

Farr says he has enjoyed travelling around the world, but added that he prefers playing in the UK.

"I have played in Scotland and Northern Ireland and you find the courses a bit more familiar to play on," said Farr.

"Everything has been totally new to me, but I've really enjoyed it.

"The aim is to get on the European Tour for next year, so I'm just focussing on these five events .

"I will then re-assess the goals to see what I can achieve in 2015."

Farr, who got his first handicap of 36 when he was 10 years old, is next in action in the EMC Golf Challenge Open at the Olgiata Golf Club in Rome.

"It is not a massively long course and there was a tournament there three years ago," said Farr.

"If I go out there and prepare right, then hopefully I will do well."
