LUDLOW captain Bryn Simmons may hand the responsibility over to someone else next season after being disappointed with his own performances.

Simmons shone with the bat during the second half of the campaign, but feels that he should have scored more runs throughout the season.

"I'm not sure if I will be the captain next season because I want to concentrate more on my batter, rather than the responsibility of looking after everyone else," said Simmons.

"I didn't score enough runs and I put that down to being the captain.

"Discussions will take place during the close season to see what will happen."

Simmons scored his first century for the club last Saturday in their 142-run demolition of St Georges.

Ludlow went on to post 302, but Simmons came in after Ben Byram grabbed a hat-trick for the away side.

Simmons' brother Ian also scored 56, while Sam Edwards grabbed 47.

Ludlow's deadly bowling attack then blitzed through the St Georges' team, with South African pace ace Matt Kennedy helping himself to six wickets.

Simmons said Kennedy was the team's best player this season.

"Matt Kennedy has been fantastic, not just on the field, but off it too and has been the perfect overseas player," said Simmons.

"James Gerritse, who is a young lad, has also been great.

"They have been fantastic with the new ball, but the whole team has done what was needed of them.

"In the first half of the season, we were just inconsistent with the bat."

Ludlow finished third in Shropshire League Premier Division, but Simmons believes that promotion could have been achieved if the side's batting was better at the beginning of the season.

"In the second half of the season, we were the best team in the league and won nine out of nine," said Simmons.

"Worfield deserved to win it, but overall, in my opinion we had the best bowlers and fielders."
