JOINT Tenbury United manager Aaron Morris said that defensive mistakes cost his side as they went down 4-2 to Wellington Reserves in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.

Tenbury are languishing in eight place in the league having lost three games out of their four games.

Morris' boys travel to Shobdon this Saturday before facing Hereford Lads Club in the HFA Charity Bowl.

"It was a bit disappointing to lose the game, but they took their chances," said Morris.

"There were a few defensive errors, but in the second half we had about 70 per cent of the ball.

"Dale Withers had a golden opportunity to make it 3-3 and if he had scored, I think we would have won the game."

Ryan Morris opened the scoring for Tenbury in the fifth minute, but Wellington Reserves stormed back to lead 3-1.

Morris grabbed his second goal of the game to reduce the arrears before half time, but it was the away side who went on to score again after the break.

Paul Smith has set his Church Stretton players to win their next three games in Mercian League Premier Division after they lost 1-0 to Telford Juniors last Saturday.

Stretton find themselves fourth from bottom in the table after losing four out of their opening five games.

Smith's men are home to FC Oswestry Town this Saturday before facing Prees and Madeley Sports.

"We played a lot better against Telford Juniors than we did against Shifnal in our previous game, but we were not clinical enough up front," said Smith.

"Matthew Newton missed a penalty with about 20 minutes to go and we then put three at the back and had three forwards.

"Our next three games are crucial and I'll be disappointed if we don't win them."

In Division One, teenager Harry Evans bagged a brace to help Bishops Castle to a 6-2 win against Brown Clee.

The 17-year-old has only played a handful of games senior games and had to go to work at half-time, meaning that he could not go on in search of a hat-trick.

Jack Wilson, Alex Jones Niall Thomas and Jack Mellor scored the other goals.

In the same league, Clee Hill manager Wayne Whitbread said that lack of games were key to his side losing 5-1 to table-toppers AFC Broseley.

Clee Hill have only played three games this season and face another tough game against Rock Rovers this Saturday.

"The scoreline flattered them to a large degree," said Whitbread.

"During the last 20 minutes, we were dead on our feet because we haven't played many games."

Whitbread's son Liam grabbed Clee Hill's goal.
