LUDLOW Hockey Club opened their doors last Saturday for anyone who wanted to try their hand at the sport.

A range of activities took place throughout the day at Moor Park, with existing players and boys and girls taking part in the festivities.

"It was a quiet morning session, but that laid way for a hectic afternoon and the open day proved very successful," said spokesman Martin Watts.

"With activities, food, a quiz and games, the day proved was a hit with over a third of attendees being non-members with an interest in taking up hockey."

Ludlow Hockey Club will now be looking ahead to the start of the season which kicks off this weekend.

The Men's first eleven are taking part in a tri-way tournament at Leominster, with Hereford also taking part.

Hereford are also hosts to the 2nd XI at 2pm, with the thirds travelling to Droitwich for a 1.30pm kick-off.

Meanwhile, Ludlow Ladies have a training session at Moor Park from noon this Saturday and are welcoming any new players to come along to find more about the team.
