DAN Gower was captain fantastic for Woofferton as his hat-trick helped his team ease into the second round of the HFA Junior Cup last Saturday.

Prior to the game, Gower received the team's new home shirt from KAM Construction representative Alan Hogg.

The firm have provided Woofferton with new home and away kits, as well as training and polo shirts.

And the new kit certainly inspired Steve Chadd's boys against Wellington Colts.

Centre back Bryn Martin opened the scoring when he was the first to react to a Simon Bradley pass inside the box.

Bradley then got on the score-sheet himself by side-footing home a Gower cross before Gower took centre stage.

His first goal came when he slided in at the far post, before he fired home a right-footed drive.

Gower's hat-trick was complete when he converted a penalty after Dave Nash was upended.

Dean Harding finished off proceedings with a fine individual goal and secure a 6-0 win.

Following the game, player-secretary Dave Thomas said: "Things went well for us, with a lot of good passing.

"The players seemed confident on the ball and the will to win was evident."

Woofferton will face Tenbury Town at home in the second round on October 4.

l Brimfield were smashed 11-3 by Holme Lacy in Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division One despite being 3-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Tom Ballard, Liam Moffat and Craig Morris grabbed Brimfield's goals, but goalkeeping mistakes saw Holme Lacy level the game. Jordan Sankey was then red-carded for bringing down a Lacy player in the box and the penalty was converted.

Holme Lacy then romped home in the second half to secure an emphatic win.
