ASHLEY Edwards made it six of the best after securing another singles title at Brimfield and Little Hereford Bowls Club.

Edwards, 25, eased past Doug Turner 21-8 to claim his sixth singles title.

It was one of four trophies for Tenbury-based Edwards, with 16-year-old Adam Walker also on the winning side in two competitions.

Turner got off to a dream start in the men’s singles, leading 6-0 after two ends.

But it was all one way traffic after that when Edwards found his weight and bagged 10 winning ends in a row to see off his challenger.

Edwards also teamed up with Jennie Cole in the Tandler Mixed Pairs and they cruised to a comfortable 23-11 victory against Howard and Jill Turberfield.

And playing with Josie Ward and Barbara Woodcock, Edwards made it a hat trick in the John Collett triples when the trip saw off Jill Turberfield and Lester and Sheila Bennett 23-5.

Walker was also on the winning side in the Cecil O’Boyle Plate, teaming with Barbara Griffiths and D. Barbara Griffiths to beat Geoff Humphries, Sylvia Mallett and Liz Smurthwaite.

Walker's side picked up four shots on the last end to win 10-7.

Tightest finish of the weekend came in the Barnet Bowl, with Howard Turberfield and Maureen Owen staging a spirited comeback before losing to Edwards and Walker 10-9.

Karen Tandler, a quarter finalist at this year's national championships, took the ladies' singles cup.

Tandler was on top form in the singles, bowling a lovely line and length against Jill Turberfield to come home 21-2.

The Millennium Plate also looked like a close finish, but Lester Bennett moved through the gears and won 21-11 against Mike Mallett.

In the weekend’s final game, Mike Owen and Doug Turner defeated Dave Evans and John Wall 14-8 in the Albert Duval two wood pairs.

Club captain Doug Smurfwaite said it was an enjoyable weekend.

“This is the first time we have staged the finals over three days and it has proved a success, with plenty of people, more than last year, turning up to watch,” said Smurthwaite.

“With only a couple of games going on at any one time, members and friends have been able to follow all the action more easily."
