SKIPPER Bryn Simmons said that a high scoring knock was a long time coming as his unbeaten 92 helped Ludlow secure a narrow two-wicket win against Reman Services in Shropshire Premier League.

Simmons has performed consistently well throughout the season, but has been unable to get the high score that he has been craving.

"It is about time that I got a good knock," said Simmons," whose runs came off just 96 balls.

"I have been solid enough throughout the year, but I haven't had the luck.

"Every time I made a mistake, I would get out.

"But that is the best I have played and it is definitely the best team performance.

"We play Frankton this weekend, a team that you don't know what you'll get.

"They are good some weeks and bad the others.

"If we are batting well, we are one of the best teams in the league, but that has let us down at times this season."

Ludlow were also indebted to Sam Edwards, who smashed 72 off 76 balls to ensure that Ludlow reached their target off the last ball.

After electing to bat, Reman Services posted 215 off their 50 overs, with James Gerritse helping himself to four wickets.

Tenbury will be turning to Twenty20 action this Sunday when they compete in a Champions Day at Ludlow Cricket Club.

Tenbury are the Woodstock South Shropshire T20 champions and will face Shrewsbury winners Wem at 1.30pm.

Prior to that match, Quatt and Grasshoppers will contest their first match at 10.30am.

On Saturday, Tenbury will travel to Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire League Division Three.

Last weekend, the team were thrashed by nine wickets against Stourport-on-Severn.

Only Tom Pugh (31) and Mark Yarranton (17) reached double figures as Tenbury reached 83-8.

Stourport then reached their required total off just 8.5 overs.

Chaddesley go into the game on the back of a six-wicket win against Cleobury.

There was more joy for Tenbury's second team though as opening pair Ian Taylor and Ben Thompson helped their side to a resounding 154-run win against Old Hill 4th.

Taylor grabbed 58 and Thompson, with Darren Thompson (25) also contributing to the team's total of 241.

In Shropshire League Division Two, Bishops Castle secured a winning draw against Wellington, with Rhys Davies helping himself to 56.

But Corvedale were thrashed by 118 runs against Willey.
