TALENTED golfer Emily Price steered England Under-16 girls to an excellent win over Switzerland at Heswall Golf Club in Cheshire.

She defeated the Swiss girls champion and also teamed up with Louisa Brunt to win a foursomes match on a memorable debut for the England team.

The English team achieved an overall victory by seven points to two.

“I was very pleased with my result, and love the way match-play golf makes it a battle between two people,” said Emily, 14, who lives in Ashford Carbonell.

“I'm looking forward to my next event for England against Wales.'

In the morning session at Heswall Golf Club, Emily played with Louisa Brunt in a foursomes match and they scored four-under-par to win 2 and 0 on the 18th.

Emily was paired against the Swiss girls champion in the afternoon for a showdown between the English Girls Open Champion and the Switzerland Girls Open Champion.

Emily went one down after the first hole, but then played faultless golf with four birdies to follow, and she won 7 and 6 after 12 holes.
