BRIMFIELD’S women are aiming for success at the national lawn bowl championships in Leamington Spa after winning through to a host of finals at county level.

Marian Wheatley and Karen Tandler battled to the national final of the flat green senior pairs last year – beating Commonwealth champions on the way – and they are in the mix again.

Tandler is a player in fine form after winning the county four wood singles, drawing shot on the last end to take the title.

Jennie Cole, who made the final four last year, will be competing in the two-wood singles. The championships will continue all

through August, concluding on the 31.

Brimfield’s women, who will be representing Herefordshire, played out a nail-biting match in the National Top Club event, losing out 71-68 after drawing with Broadway.
