BURWAY bowls pair Duncan Pressley and Roy Crowther came out on top to retain the Flowfit Ludlow and District Bowls League doubles competition.

The duo beat Ludlow Castle's Dave Wilding and Simon Lane 21-18 in a thrilling final.

Pressley and Crowther had earlier beaten team mates Jesse James and Simon Parsonage 21-17 in the semi-final.

That game was a tightly fought affair, with James and Parsonage edging into a 15-14 lead.

But in the space of three ends, Pressley and Crowther scored six shots to go ahead and win the match.

The other semi-final pitted Wilding and Lane against Craven Arms's Colin Blent and Bert Morris.

Home advantage paid dividends in that match, with Wilding and Lane winning 21-11.

A total of 29 teams took part in the competition, with county stars Wayne Rogers and Kiah Roberts pairing up for the first team.

However, the duo only got as far as the quater finals.

The trophy was presented league chairman Lillian Payne who thanked everyone for supporting the competition.
