RICHARD Wright has triumphed in a competition in honour of Spanish golfing legend Seve Ballesteros and his foundation.
Wright shot 38 points and won the Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club event on a countback from second-placed Josh Carpenter.
Wright had enjoyed a quiet season until this success and he’s hoping to continue the winning form.
‘I hit a lot of fairways and, when I did miss one, I was not stuck behind a tree like I usually am,” he said. “Hitting the fairways was the key to the good score I posted.”
Carpenter, once again, played some great golf with a three under par around deer park.
With a chance to break the course record, he narrowly missed out with a level par on the back nine and finished with 38 points.
Ian Dennis was the top performer in Division Two.
He carded 36 points to narrowly beat the in-form Paul Liggins and to claim his first win since joining the club in April.
Final standings, Division One: 1 Rich Wright 38 pts, 2 Josh Carpenter 3 pts..
Division Two: 1 Ian Dennis 36 pts, 2 Paul Liggins 35 pts.
