ANDY Young returned to golf after an 11-year exile to help his team-mates win a 21st anniversary texas scramble at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club.

Ian Dorrell and Rob Pinner teamed up with new member Jim Went and Young to take top spot with a host of birdies after recording 56.3.

Captain Dorrell said: 'It was a collective performance with all of us contributing. We held putts at the right time. The team has a great mix and I look forward to many for victories together.”

Cleobury members got behind the competition with a bumper field and the largest entry of the year for a team competition.

The top two teams came from the afternoon players who also had the worst of the weather conditions after a brutal heavy rain storm swept through the area.

John Brazier, Pat Collins, Andy Galliard and Alex Brazier shot a 56.7 to miss out on top spot by just 0.4 and bogeyed the third of deer park.

Early starters Tony Willets, Bob Lucas, John Westley and Paul Liggins thought they had done enough to win and led all the way until the afternoon tee times.
