LADY captain Jackie Corbett teamed up with Harry Burgoyne to win the Ron Jones Salver at Ludlow Golf Club.

The duo amassed an outstanding 40 stableford points and their score was more remarkable in that given that they left the 10th green without collecting any points.

Corbett and Burgoyne finished three points clear of Nick Apperley and Lynn Thompson, whose very solid round of 37 points had looked good enough for victory.

There was some excellent putting from Thompson over the closing holes but not quite enough to bridge the gap on the victors.

John Adams was partnered by Ludlow’s maiden Lady President Edna Spanner and they snatched third spot.

They were the last pairing out and their score of 33 points was enough to pip Richard Rogers and Michelle Mann by just one point. Mixed foursomes is one of the most demanding formats in golf and, once again, threw up some surprisingly scores.
