BURWAY’S Chris Dovey, Adam Dovey and Duncan Pressley triumphed in the Flowfit Ludlow and District Bowls League Triples at Cleobury Mortimer.
The Doveys and Pressley sealed a 21-6 success over Temesters’ Derek Mantle, Jack Bufton and Viv Cooper after racing into a 15-1 lead in the final.
Previously, the Burway trio had booked their spot in the final after 21-18 win over the Cleobury team of Phil Pack, Andy Pain and Graham Kitchen
Mantle, Bufton and Cooper edged their last-four tie, 12-1 against the Parsonage family of Simon, Harry and Jack before running out 21-11 winners.
Fourteen teams entered the competition which included a mixture of Premier League players, county juniors and league stalwarts.
The quarter-final tie produced some brilliant games with defending champions Nick Lewis, Kiah Roberts and Russell Davies knocked out a by club mates Adam Dovey, Chris Dovey and Pressley in a 21-20 classic.
Pack, Pain and Kitchen defeated clu mates Christine and Ivor Lloyd and Jim Roberts 21-20 in another thriller.
The Parsonage family overcame clubmates Graham Prince, Len Lewis and Doug Andrews 21-19 and Mantle, Bufton and Cooper beat the Mortimer threesome of Lesley and Joe Burnside and Albert Mantle 21-17.
League chairman Lillian Payne presented the trophy to the victorious team of Dovey, Dovey and Pressley and thanked Cleobury Mortimer for hosting the event and producing a fantastic green on which to pla.
Lesley and Lauren Burnside were praised for keeping all the players and supporters fed and watered throughout the day.
