NINE Ludlow Cycling Club members have hit top speed to finish 51st in the 80-strong BMCC Silverstone Race Circuit 9-Up Team Time Trial.

The Ludlow team completed the course in 26m 23sec and was almost six minutes adrift of the winning team, Richardsons Trek RT, who completed the course in 20m 58sec.

The team’s ages ranged from 17 to 57 years old and the ethos was to make sure all nine riders finished in one group.

The event comprised of three laps of the Formula One circuit, an iconic location for a team trial.

Meanwhile, a new winner, Stourbridge’s Richard Coleman, triumphed in the 13th round of the Ludlow CC Time Trial League sponsored by The Ludlow Brewing Company.

Ludlow’s Steve Minton came second, seven seconds slower than Coleman, with an average speed of 26.mph on the fast Brimfield course.

League leader James Griffith did not race - he was recovering from winning the SCCA 30 time trial and then completing the 110-mile 10,500ft Dartmoor Classic with Andrew Alston. Griffith stills leads the competition by 31 points from Clancy Wilson.
