AFTEFR back to back promotions, Orleton Colts are looking forward to fighting it out among some of the top teams in Herefordshire as they make the step up to the Herefordshire League Premier Division next season.
But the north Herefordshire club are under no illusions on just how tough a task they will face.
“It’s not going to be as easy as making the step up, like we did, from Division Two to Division One”, explained manager Kristian Morgan.
“There are some really strong teams in the Premier Division but I think we will be able to hold our own.
"I don’t think we will struggle to stay up but a lower mid-table finish would be a good effort considering the size of the squad and the ability we have to attract players to the club.”
It’s not just manager Morgan who thinks Orleton have a good chance of competing at a higher level.
His players are also really looking forward to the challenge that the Herefordshire League Premier Division will bring, as Kyle Whitticase explained.
“As Kristian said, I don’t believe we will struggle," he said.
"A lower mid-table place would be a good achievement for us.
"We’ve not really faced teams of that level before, going into this season we had faced a couple of division one sides in cups in previous years and held our own so we knew what to expect this year.
"But it will be good test for us to see where we are - it’s something we feel we have deserved and something that we are all really looking forward to.”
Meanwhile, Orleton Juniors Football Club are hosting their annual tournament on Saturday and Sunday starting at
There will be tea, cakes and a barbecue, plus an inflatable on Sunday. The venue is Orleton Recreation Ground.
"It might inspire a young person you know to take up the sport," said club spokesman Andrew Doyle.
