FREE coaching is being offered at Ludlow Castle Tennis Club.

The club will be giving away coaching vouchers this weekend for use during their open day on June 21.

Ludlow Castle Tennis Club will be at Ludlow College’s Harley Centre between 12pm and 4pm this Saturday.

“The vouchers can be picked up by from the club’s stand, just inside the entrance to Ludlow College Harley Centre, next to Castle Square,” said club chairman Mike Jones.

“We will be at a Tennis in the Square event which is being organised by Shropshire Council and Shropshire Tennis, and the stand will be manned by Ludlow Castle’s Inspire2coach team, and club members.

“There will also be an opportunity for anyone to try their hand using the novel Tennis Factory equipment.”

Jones said anyone who wants to play tennis, has played tennis in the past, or is thinking about taking up the sport can benefit from free coaching at Ludlow Castle Tennis Club.

The club’s open day takes place next Saturday, starting at 1pm and continues to 5pm, and is part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s Great British Tennis Weekend programme.

Visitors can also try their hand at croquet – the club are creating a special area to promote interest around Ludlow.

For adults, there will be coaching taster sessions and coaches will be on hand to offer help and advice to juniors on how they can take up the game, and continue to play.

Cardio Tennis will also be available – open to people of all ages and abilities.

Anyone interested will get to hit lots of tennis balls, supported by qualified instructors, during the class and have a great cardio workout at the same time.

Jones added: “Everyone is welcome - all ages. People should just bring trainers – the club can supply racquets and balls, and people will also get a chance to try out the club’s recently laid new courts – an investment in the future of some £50,000.”

Two of the courts have been resurfaced with artificial clay, which is even better for coaching, especially for juniors, Jones said.
