TEENAGE bike ace Jack Stanton-Warren has won the much-coveted annual Climb On Bikes Spring Road Race.

The 18-year-old Ludlow Cycling Club starlet took first place on the rolling 56-mile race which took place north of Hereford.

Stanton-Warren stayed in the pack and played a tactical game in which he gambled on being with the lead group at the end.

He achieved an average speed of 25.8mph and attacked 300 metres from the line to win by a tyre’s width.

Despite being heavily outnumbered by bigger clubs such as Worcester St Johns CC, Climb On Bikes and NFTO Race Club of Hereford, Ludlow Cycling Club managed to make a significant impact on the race with Daniel Cutting finishing an impressive fifth spot.

Steve Minton initiated a host of early breakaway moves before finishing comfortably in the peloton after 2 hours and 10 minutes of racing.

A strong field of 60 riders competed in near perfect racing conditions and helped to make for a fast race

The rolling 56-mile race consisted of 3.5 laps of a scenic 16-mile circuit which passed through Sutton St Nicholas, Withington Marsh and Burley Gate.
