DAVE Cooper has been crowned the West Midlands League Division Two manager of the year after guiding AFC Ludlow to a second successive promotion.

Ludlow pipped Team Dudley to win the league on goal difference after scoring an impressive 91 goals in their 26 games - with Dale Hodge scoring 15 goals in just 16 appearances.

Cooper was handed the award at a ceremony at Walsall Football Club last Saturday.

"I was well chuffed to win the award, but we win things as a team," said Cooper.

"Id like to thank the sponsor and everyone who voted for me

"But, special mention must go to everyone involved at the club, because ultimately they have won it for me.

"We've got a good team of lads and are good mates off the field too.

"Vice-chairman Mike Seaborne for example has been a massive help to me and not a day goes by without me talking to him."

Ludlow will face four Herefordshire sides in Division One next season, but Cooper said that his team will hold no fears.

"Talking to the lads, there is a real buzz and everyone is looking forward to next season," said Cooper.

"If we can replicate what we did last season and play like we did for the last 10 games of last season, then we will be ok against everyone."

Cooper said that the club is waiting for confirmation on where they can train before their pre-season build-up begins.

"Pre-season could possibly start next Saturday, or if not, the following Tuesday or Thursday," said Cooper.

"I don't think we will be losing any players, so we probably do not need to add to the squad."

Away friendly games have already been arranged against FC Stafford, AFC Bridgnorth and Church Stretton.

Cooper confirmed this week that Ludlow will also be holding two charity games towards the end of July and the beginning of August.

"It will be in aid of the Air Ambulance and Hope House, a children's hospice in Shrewsbury," said Cooper.

"We always do a bit of fundraising for charity and these are great charities.

"We haven't yet confirmed the opponents, but one of the games will be against Oakengates Athletic."

Meanwhile, a presentation evening will be held at the Showtime Stadium at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 21 when the manager's and players' player of the year trophies will be handed out.
