LUDLOW Cricket Club will be hosting three representative matches this season for the South Shropshire Twenty20 League.

League organiser Matt Porter is hoping to arrange a selection meeting for all captains at Ludlow Cricket Club on July 3 at Ludlow Cricket Club at 7.30pm.

The first representative match will be against the Shrewsbury and District Evening League on a grass pitch at the Burway on Thursday, July 17.

The Shrewsbury League contains 18 teams, which play in three divisions.

“I hope that all the captains can meet up a couple of weeks before the first match and discuss who should be selected,” said Porter.

“I feel we should pick at least one player from each side in our league and then fill the remaining four places with the stand-out players we’ve seen.”

Porter is planning to play the music for the evening, with the club providing the food.

He will also try to secure league-approved umpires who officiate in the Shropshire League on a Saturday afternoon.

Porter has also arranged a representative match against the Broseley Bash on Thursday, August 7.

“We will be playing a select XI from the six teams that compete in the Broseley Bash,” said Porter.

There will is also be Champions Day on Sunday, September 7.

Porter explained: “The Champions Day will see the winners of our league, winners of the Broseley League and winners and runners-up of Division One in the Shrewsbury League contest a semi-final and final day.

“I am pleased to say that Ludlow Cricket Club will be hosting all the representative matches and there will also be music and a barbecue for the Champions Day,” added Porter.
