Basher Brain will be back to boost Knighton-on-Teme Cricket Club against Shirebulls in GB Liners Marches League Division Two, says Dave Pullen

ALL-ROUNDER Jack Brain will be making his comeback for Knighton-on-Teme in Saturday’s GB Liners Marches League Division Two clash against Shirebulls.

Brain was not available last summer because of his work commitments but is expected to return for Knighton’s match with Shirebulls at Hereford Cathedral School’s Wyeside ground.

“Jack is available for the rest of the season and that is great news for us,” said Knighton stalwart Dave Pullen.

“Jack works in the armed services and was away all last summer. We missed him last year because he’s a good bowler and hits the ball very hard.”

Pullen admits he does not know anything about Shirebulls, who were bowled out for just 23 in a defeat against Llandrindod Wells.

“We know it’s going to get much harder and I don’t think we will breeze it this year,” said Pullen.

“We got off to an excellent start against Llandrindod Wells and then we overcame Marden at Herefordshire Cricket Centre.

“It has been a good start – we have played two completed matches and won two.

“Marden came down from Division One last season – it was an interesting pitch and a small ground at Herefordshire Cricket Centre.”

“Sam Sivetar made just 13 and hit two sixes – one went into the field and the other was a heck of a strike which flew out of the ground and sailed over parked cars and into a garden.

“They are a very good bunch of lads and we were a bit worried about dangerman Mike Williams but, fortunately for us, he wasn’t there.”

Knighton’s match against Presteigne last Saturday fell victim to the wet weather which decimated the area’s cricket programme.
