CLEOBURY Mortimer Golf Club recently held a Captains May Texas scramble.

Jason and Paul Bowers, Colm Berry and Chris Newman came out on top, finishing with a nett score of 55.9.

Closely behind were Dave Moore, Keith Gardner, Gary Hingley and Graham Lee, while Guy Taylor and John Gallagher were the "nearest the pin" winners.

"We all contributed when needed and holed some important putts," said Jason Bowers.

"It's great to get a team win, hopefully it will be first of many."

Meanwhile, Nigel Griffiths won Ludlow Golf Club's Division One monthly medal after carding a score of 39 - two clear of the chasing pack.

Griffiths laid the base for his score with a fantastic front nine of 21 points.

Ross Magill finished second on 37 points after posting one birdie, two bogies and 15 pars, while Dave Fish was third.

Chris Bott came top in Division Two after accumulating 39 points, with John Brown finishing a point behind and Trevor Gray finishing third.

The most emphatic win came in Division Three, where Bob Burt finished four shots clear of everyone else.

Burt was a full three shots under his handicap through the first six holes, with a final net birdie proving enough to secure the win on 36 points.

Michael Groves took second place on 32 points, with John Hughes a further point behind in third.
