DAN Pullen made a remarkable return from injury to help Knighton-on-Teme to a 41-run win against Marden in GB Liners Marches League Division Two.

Pullen had not bowled since last August after sustaining a hand injury.

But, it was like he had never been away as his four wickets proved crucial in ensuring that Marden were never going to catch his team's total of 204.

"John Griffiths got injured, so Dan came in to bowl, even though he hadn't picked up a ball since last August," said Pullen's dad and Knighton-on-Teme club stalwart Dave Pullen.

"He was only going to bowl a couple of overs, but ended up bowling 11.5 and took four wickets."

Knighton's opening pair of Matthew James (67) and Mark Evans (42) helped the side post 204-9 off their 45 overs.

In reply, Marden struggled to get near Knighton's total and were all out for 163.

"Will Sparrow was brilliant and had a fantastic day," said Ludlow captain Bryn Simmons.

"But, everyone chipped in and even I took a stumping - my first season - which is always nice to get."

Only Tom Rawkings (55) and Jack Farrar (33) produced anything of note for Tenbury as they were skittled out for 163.

"We were missing a lot of key players, with some playing for Tenbury United," said Rawlings.

"I also didn't get to the game until 3pm because I was at an open day at Edgbaston, where I work.

"It was a bit of a freak week really."
