JAKE Collett and Chris Breakwell were on target but Brimfield FC crashed 3-2 at a strong Wellington Colts in Herefordshire League Division One.

Boss Duncan Morris said: “Wellington fielded Premier Division players against us. We beat them 7-1 a few weeks ago and this time I only recognised five of their 16 players.”

Previously, a brace from James Byatt and Luke Hicks’ stunning goal helped Brimfield to a 3-2 win over champions Tenbury United. Ashley Giles netted twice for Tenbury.

Martyn Jones bagged a double in Orleton Colts’ 2-0 home win over Woofferton last Thursday in Division One.

But Woofferton bounced back to thrash Ledbury Town Reserves 5-2 with goals from Danny Gower (2), Morion Vargovak (2) and Vladimir Biscak.

Chris Shurmer’s Leintwardine Colts suffered a 2-0 defeat at Kington Town Reserves in Division Three.

Church Stretton Town kept alive their Mercian League Premier Division title hopes with a 5-2 victory over struggling Weston Rhyn.

And Stretton travel to rivals Oakengates Athletic this Saturday in their final match which could decide the destination of the title.

Stretton were due to travel to Wellington Amateurs last night in their penultimate league match of the campaign.

Max Jarrold, Neil Castle, Aaron Gough, Dean Richards and Jack Davies netted for Stretton in their win over Weston Rhyn.

Newcastle completed their Mid Wales League South campaign with a convincing 5-2 home victory over Penybont. They have finished fifth in the division.

Norbury ended their campaign with a 10-1 defeat at The Masonic in Division One of the Shrewsbury Sunday League.

With a fifth place finish regardless of the result, Norbury reshuffled positions and it was usual goalkeeper Luke Overton who made it 1-1 from the penalty spot after Glyn Thomas had been fouled.

Masonic were ruthless with their finishing and Mark Hudson was outstanding for Norbury, who missed a glut of chances.

Meanwhile, Orleton Colts will meet Tenbury United in the Leintwardine Cup final at Leintwardine on Saturday, May 17.

Bishops Castle Town will meet Newcastle in the Bishops Castle Cup final on Sunday, May 25.
