LUDLOW Rugby Club spokesman Phil Norton is expecting a tough test at Moseley Oak this Saturday in Midlands Two West (North).

The Linneymen lacked forward power as they crashed to a disappointing 26-13 defeat at lowly Willenhall last weekend.

“Willenhall scored a very controversial try which appeared to have been knocked on at least once and they scored their fourth try to seal the win late on,” said Norton.

Mark Williams scored Ludlow’s try, with Will Sparrow kicking a conversion and a penalty.

Norton said: “The wet weather was not conclusive to our game and we did not have enough opportunities”

He added: “Moseley Oak will be a tough test because we are one or two forwards short at the moment. Our aim is to get to the end of the season and regroup for next year.”

Andy Dale bagged four tries in Bishops Castle’s 34-7 home triumph over Warley in Midlands Four West (North). Keith Evans and Pete Bevan also crossed, while Will Beddoes landed two conversions for Castle, who led 12-7 at the break.

Castle are pushing for fourth spot and their final league match is at home to Greyhound on April 26.

A brace of tries from Alex Howman inspired Cleobury Mortimer to a 20-0 home success over Greyhound.

Ben Howman also crossed, while Sam Bills was man of the match and skipper Allan Shields kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Meanwhile, Church Stretton Samurai lost 31-15 at Shrewsbury 2nd in a friendly.

Press officer Jack Titley felt the scoreline flattered the hosts after three controversial tries.

Full-back Jay Houghton and Alex Pheby crossed for Stretton before Tom Ward scored a superb try after racing from the half-way line.

Stretton’s final friendly of the season is against Dudley Kingswinford on April 26.
