BISHOPS Castle Town manager Andrew Green wants someone to take over the hot-seat next term.

Green is coming to the end of his second season at Castle’s helm and he is not sure whether he wants a third campaign.

Castle have had an excellent season – they are pushing for promotion from the Mercian League Division One and have reached the final of the Newcastle Cup.

“I am not sure, at the moment, whether I will stay on as manager,” admitted Green .

“It’s quite a lot of work trying to get commitment from players. I am not saying yes and I am not saying no. I am hoping that someone else will take over.

“I have young children and it can be hard to get the time to organise the team.”

But Green wants to remain as a player at the Shropshire club.

“I am just hoping that someone else will come in and take charge and I will be there as a player,” he confirmed.

“I took over last time because there was none to carry on after Fred Jones said he was going travelling.

“Fred said he wasn’t carrying on and the club were struggling to find someone to do it so I stepped in.

“But I am pleased that I decided to give it a go and I am enjoying it – and we have everything to play for in the remainder of the season.”

Green’s men are the holders of the Newcastle Cup and face Orleton Colts in the final on Sunday, April 27.

Meanwhile, Clee Hill United manager Wayne Whitbread is keen remain in the role for at least another season.

“If the club want me to carry on, I definitely will,” said Whitbread, whose son Liam plays for the team.

“I really enjoy it and I have been the manager for a long time. I enjoy working with the lads and I would miss not doing it.

“I wouldn’t know what else to do on a Saturday afternoon.”
