CLEOBURY Mortimer Rugby Club captain Allan Shields wants his men to end the season on a high note.

Cleobury host Greyhound in their penultimate Midlands Four West (North) fixture of the campaign this Saturday.

Shields kicked Cleobury 6-0 ahead in last weekend's North Midlands Vase quarter-final tie at Woodrush but they were eventually crushed 55-6.

Shields said: “We went away with the bare 15 but we had to play the second half with just 14 men after John Hulland suffered an eye injury. We started off the season really well and but there has been a worrying decline since the turn of the year.

“Hopefully, we can have a win against Greyhound because we lost in controversial circumstances at their place earlier in the season.”

Bishops Castle conceded a converted try in the last play of the game to lose 29-27 at Five Ways Old Edwardians in Midlands Four West (North).

Keith Evans bagged two tries, while Justin Haycock and Ed Roberts also crossed, with Will Beddoes kicking two conversions and a penalty.

Castle led 15-12 at the interval and were 27-22 ahead with minutes remaining.

“We got in front and we running down the clock when their winger found a bit of space and went through to score," said spokesman Pete Bevan.

Meanwhile, Bishops Castle Rugby Club are staging a casino night, in memory of former player and supporter Owen Jones, on April 19 at Pulverbatch Village Hall from 7pm. Tickets cost £20 and the proceeds will go towards Cancer Research.
