MIDLANDS boxing champion Terry Dean Smith bowed out in the last eight of the national schoolboy championships in Sunderland.
Terry, who has just turned 14, suffered a unanimous defeat after putting on a strong showing against an opponent from York in Sunday’s bout in the Year 2000 56-59 kg section.
“It was a unanimous decision but Terry was very lucky not to get to the semi-finals,” said Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club coach Colin Woodfield.
“We had a good chat on the way back on how Terry can improve and he’s keen to get back in the ring. Terry has become a Midlands champion and has got two fights further than he did last season.”
