BEN Jordan and Emma Clarke navigated their dads into the leading two places in a navigational scatter organised by Ludlow Castle Motor Club chairman Ken Lloyd and secretary Mark Kinsey.

The duo led Richard Jordan and Phil Clarke into first and second spots overall, and the two crews were separated by 20 points.

Previous scatter winners Duncan Edwards and Colin Stevens were a further 10 points adrift and they were followed by Nick Skidmore and Ben Innes and Anthony and Conner Deignan.

Five crews took part in the navigational scatter which ran from the Roebuck Inn at Brimfield on a wet and blustery night. They navigated their way around South Shropshire looking for the answers to a set of clues provided by the organisers.

The nav scats are an excellent way of introducing new people into a cheap and enjoyable form of motor sport, said club spokesman Phil Clarke, where the emphasis is on route plotting and planning.

The organisers thanked the Roebuck Inn for their hospitality.

Meanwhile, Ludlow Castle Motor Club’s Jim Jones and his uncle, Andrew Sankey, finished 31st overall and second in class at the Breen Stages.

The Ludlow-based crew were out on their first event in the Skoda Fabia and Jones admitted to being a bit rusty.

The car's turbo boost pipe came off on the first special stage to leave the Skoda low on power.

Lee Halfpenny and Tom Bemand wheeled out the Ford Escort and a clean run netted 38th overall, sixth in class and the trophy for the first rear-wheel drive car.

John Moule made an appearance in his Skoda after a five-year lapse.

Moule recruited co-driver Abbey Haycock and ended his sabbatical with a 60th-placed finish.

Luke Store’s Skoda failed to make it to the finish as a collision with a cement filled oil drum damaged the suspension putting Store and co-driver Simon Atkinson out of the rally.

Andrew Clayworth and Jez Rodgers were 31st overall and fifth in class in the first round of the RAC Historic Rally Championship in Llandovery.
