The magnificent seven

LUDLOW Hockey Club’s women’s team fielded just seven players – and sealed a remarkable 2-1 success at Worcester in the Worcestershire Women’s League Division Two.

Tenbury moved up to third spot in Division One after a 3-1 victory against Harborne.

Cat Mumford, Abi Davis at a penalty corner and Rene Johnson scored for Tenbury and Vicky Jones was in top form.

Ludlow men’s picked up a 2-1 win against lowly Kingswinford and are now third in the West Midlands League Division One. James Pratt and Andy Richards netted for Ludlow.

Ludlow 2nd fought back from 2-0 down at table-topping Wednesbury and had to settle for a 2-2 draw after having a last-gasp effort ruled out.

Joe Haywood and Tyler Davis were on target for Ludlow, before the umpire ruled out a strike from Aaron Wilcox which was deflected in off the goalkeeper. The corner was ordered to be retaken because the Wednesbury side had infringed by breaking early.
