BRACES from in-form Chris Breakwell and Jake Collett led Brimfield FC to a 5-0 victory at Weston in the quarter-finals of the HFA Burghill Cup.

James Byatt also scored for Duncan Morris’ men, who had opened up a commanding 3-0 lead before the interval.

Morris said: “This was a good chance for the lads to get back into the kind of form I know they can produce. We had at least 10 chances and scored five.”

Brimfield travel to Tenbury Town this Saturday in the quarter-finals of the

Jock Handley Cup.

Tenbury Town scored three goals in the last 20 minutes to record a 4-1 win win at Civil Service in Herefordshire League Division Two.

Alex Bright scored twice for Town – including a ferocious 30-yard left-foot volley which put the visitors 3-1 ahead.

Service took the lead after Matt Clifford had conceded a penalty but Adam Everall levelled before the interval.

Bright ‘s quick-fire double put Town in command and then Chris Patton completed the scoring, heading in Dean Morris’ cross.

Two late strikes from Danny Gower fired second-placed Woofferton to a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Hinton Reserves in Herefordshire League Division One.

Steve Chadd’s half-time team talk enabled the Blues to step up a gear half and overturn a 1-0 interval deficit.

Gower scrambled the ball home with 15 minutes remaining, from Dan Bradley’s free kick and he won the match with five minutes remaining.

Church Stretton Town’s Shropshire FA Challenge Cup third-round tie at AFC Broseley was abandoned early in the second half.

Stretton were leading 1-0 when a home striker suffered a broken leg.

James Clifford struck home a 25-yard free-kick but Clee Hill United lost 6-2 at home to Morda United.

Stevie Preece netted Hill's other goal, after good work by Tom Evans, but the hosts were well beaten.

Hill boss Wayne Whitbread said: "We did not play badly and everyone worked hard but we trailed 4-1 at the break.

"We had five players missing but Simon Lane and Dave Shorter, who normally plays in goal, ran their socks off.

"We needed everyone at the top of their game to have any chance of beating Morda."

Bishops Castle Town also crashed out of the cup after a 2-0 loss at Rock Rovers.

Castle boss Andrew Green said: “It was a very poor performance and we can now concentrate on trying to get promoted. We lacked a buzz and I don’t think we had a shot on goal.” Green is hoping to welcome back striker Craig Williams for Castle’s Mercian League Division One trip to Hanwood United Reserves this Saturday.

A brace from Craig Morris helped Newcastle to a 3-1 win at Bronllys in Mid Wales League (South). Newcomer Billy Hyatt, from Knighton Town, was also on target for Newcastle who achieved a league double.

A late goal from Lisa Preece helped Ludlow Ladies maintain their unbeaten record in 2014 with a 2-2 against a strong Hereford Lads Club in the Hereford and Worcester Women’s League.

Preece scored a late goal after Lads Club had overturned a 1-0 interval deficit to lead 2-1 late in the second half.

Earlier, Emmy James had scored directly from a corner to put Ludlow 1-0 ahead, while Jess Hurp, Lara Moffat, Loz Smith and Debbie Prescott were outstanding in defence.
