CENTRE Joe Collins scored the only try as Church Stretton Samurai clinched a 10-0 friendly triumph at Telford 2nd.

Centre partner Ash Passant added five points with the boot for Stretton, who travel to play Cleobury Mortimer 2nd this Saturday, 3pm kick-off.

The Samurai had spent most of the game on the attack against Telford and could've scored several more tries, said press officer Jack Titley.

“We had to settle for just the 10 points thanks to some strong defence from the opposition,” he said.

Stretton have a host of experienced players, including Daran Chard who has just left Ludlow Rugby Club.

Further to my earlier email, the match this weekend against cleobury is now away, with a 3pm kick-off.

Stretton were formed last summer and were the newest rugby club in the North Midlands and

already has 40 members and 30 supporters.

Church Stretton play their home matches at the school ground behind the tennis courts on Shrewsbury Road.

The Samurai are planning to enter the RFU leagues in 2014 and must lay 12 friendly fixtures this season.
