Ludlow Ladies 2 Shrewsbury Town 0

FIRST-HALF goals from Kerrie Taylor and Sara Bengtsson helped Ludlow Ladies into the quarter-finals of the Shropshire County Women’s Cup.

Ludlow played most of their final preliminary round game with 10 players after Taylor was caught in a challenge and had to limp off with a knee injury.

Team spokesman Lorna James said: “The whole team put in a great performance to secure the win and are looking forward to the next challenge in the cup.”

Ludlow played the tie on the AGP pitch at the Showtime Stadium and Taylor scored the first goal with a shot from outside the box.

Bengtsson doubled Ludlow’s lead from a free kick midway through the first half after Pip Jackman-Day was fouled outside the box.

Meanwhile, Bishops Castle Town manager Andrew Green is hoping his side can resume their Mercian League Division One campaign this weekend.

“We haven’t played at home for over a month and we last played about four weeks ago against Meole Brace which shouldn't have gone ahead.

“The players are still keen and we are still training every week - we just need a game.”
