THE wet weather could have scuppered Cleobury Mortimer's promotion challenge.

Cleobury captain Allan Shields says he might have to forfeit the match at Bishops Castle if it's re-arranged for February 22.

Last weekend's derby was abandoned when a storm struck as Shields had the ball his hand and poised to kick off.

"Getting struck by the hail was like being shot with a pellet gun," said Shields.

"We are now expecting to be told to replay the match on February 22, which was originally a blank weekend.

"I am heading down to Twickenham to watch England against Ireland that day and a few are off to see Wales.

"We might have to forfeit the match because I am not sure we can put out a front row.

"We are hoping we can play the match on March 15."

Castle spokesman Pete Bevan said: "It was a bit frustrating because the sun was shining as we walked to the pub.

"We all look forward to derbies and want to play Cleobury when they are at full strength."

The winners will travel to Five Ways Old Edwardians in the semi-finals.
